Who Am I?

Well, I had every intention of getting this blog up and running in March, but life has just been too busy since then. Now that I have time, or at least have made time, I can get down to business. I thought I'd start out with a brief description of who I am, and why it is that I blog about car-free living.

Right now I'm working as a landscape architect and urban planner in Salt Lake City. A majority of my work involves community planning with various cities and towns along the Wasatch Front, as well as parts of Idaho, Wyoming, and Washington. I dare say that I can address most urban issues with more than a layman's opinion of how urban systems function (or don't for that matter). I'm not an expert in everything by any means, but more of a jack of all trades when it comes to the planning and urban design world.

I also don't currently own a car. In just a few days I'll celebrate five months without a car, and frankly, I don't miss it. Life's been good for the last five months. I've had to make some adjustments sure, but on the whole, living life car free has been great.

My intention on this blog is to write about the transition that our country, and specifically Salt Lake City and the Wasatch Front are making as we change from an autocentric system to a multi modal system. I hope to post at least daily, but I'm sure that will end up being a couple times a week. At any rate, all comments and inquiries are welcome. (image courtesy Utah Historic Foundation).
